Barclays forms new Management Team for Investment Banking, and announces series of promotions

New Investment Banking Management Team will be led by JF Astier and John Miller, who are promoted to Co-Heads of Investment Banking.

Barclays today announces a series of promotions in Investment Banking, and the formation of a new Management Team for the business.

 

The Investment Banking Management Team will be led by JF Astier and John Miller, who are promoted to Co-Heads of Investment Banking. In their new roles, JF and John will jointly manage the business across coverage, product and portfolio management, and will continue to report to Paul Compton, Global Head of Investment Banking and Co-President of Barclays Bank PLC.

 

“As long-standing leaders in our franchise, JF and John have been key drivers behind the consistent growth in our Investment Banking business over the past several years,” commented Paul Compton. “Their appointment, the concurrent promotions, and the formation of our new Management Team is recognition of the significant talent in our team, and will help to enhance the execution of our strategy and our delivery for clients.”

 

JF was previously Global Head of Capital Markets and Mergers and Acquisitions, and John was previously Global Head of Coverage Investment Banking.

 

Kristin Roth DeClark and Taylor Wright are promoted to Global Co-Heads of Capital Markets. In their prior roles as Co-Heads of Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Americas, they drove significant growth in that business, increasing revenues and the number of transactions on which the bank advised in a leadership capacity. In their new roles, they will oversee ECM, Debt Capital Markets, Risk Solutions Group, Securitized Products Origination, and Leveraged Finance.

 

Travis Barnes is appointed Global Head of Financial Sponsors Group (FSG) and Sustainable & Impact Banking (SIB). Travis was previously Global Head of Debt Capital Markets and Risk Solutions Group, including Securitised Products Origination, growing global revenues in that business to a record £1.5bn in 2020. Brian Reilly, Global Head of SIB, will work with Travis and existing leadership in the FSG and SIB teams to continue expanding the team’s impact beyond the energy sector, advising clients across industry groups on all ESG topics.

 

Marco Valla is appointed Global Head of Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT), and Consumer and Retail (CRG) Investment Banking. Marco will work with the existing TMT and CRG teams and management, bringing differentiated expertise and advice to clients on the increasing convergence of the two sectors.

 

Vanessa Koo and Reid Marsh continue in their roles as Head of Investment Banking for APAC and EMEA respectively, reporting to Paul Compton. They will work alongside JF and John to ensure strong regional leadership for colleagues and clients, and will continue to provide invaluable input into the global business strategy.

 

The Investment Banking Management Team will comprise:

  • Kristin DeClark and Taylor Wright, Global Co-Heads of Capital Markets
  • Tim Hartzell, Global Head of Portfolio Management
  • Richard Landgarten, Global Head of Healthcare and Real Estate Investment Banking
  • John Lange, Global Head of Industrials and Energy Investment Banking
  • Tim Main, Global Head of Financial Institutions Investment Banking
  • Gary Posternack, Global Head of M&A
  • Marco Valla, Global Head of Technology, Media and Telecoms, and Consumer and Retail Investment Banking

 

The Global Heads of Investment Banking Human Resources, Finance, Compliance, Legal, Risk, Business Management, and Chief Operating Office will also join the Management Team.
